directionally controlled drivers

Alternating current (AC) is a far from perfect power source. AC power technology is over a century old and was never designed to meet the exacting standards of today's high-resolution audio and video components. AC noise is present at the utility source and is then aggravated by radio frequency noise that is induced (picked up by the AC power cable) and coupled to component power supplies already the circuit ground. This creates distortion and low level signal losses through the "masking effect". Also, power amplifiers can require immense surge current reserves for their power supplies to react and then stabilize during dynamic audio passages. Most AC power cords and power conditioners-regenerators, while useful up to a point, are simply not up to the task.

Power amplifiers present a real challenge for any AC power supply as the transient current requirements (albeit short duration) can be many times higher than the average (RMS) current draw. Power amplifiers are also unique from all other components in that current draw is dynamic, not constant, and changes with the volume and content of the audio signal. Although many AC power cables may have low DC resistance to accommodate some of these requirements, the characteristic impedance of the AC cable is equally responsible for ensuring uncompromising performance.

FIREBIRD CONDUCTORS: PERFECT SURFACE SOLID SILVER (PSS) AND PERFECT SURFACE SOLID COPPER + (PSC+)

Solid conductors prevent electrical interaction between strands, the main sources of distortion. Surface quality is critical because a conductor can be thought of as a guide rail for both fields within a conductor and magnetic fields that extend outside the conductor. The amazingly smooth and pure surface of AudioQuest's Perfect-Surface all metals nearly eliminates harshness and greatly increases clarity compared to lesser quality materials. Careful choice of PSS and PSC+ conductor sizes ensures that FireBird performance is close to all PSS Silver usage, but at a much lower cost.

GND (GROUND NOISE DISSIPATION)

AC ground wires provide protection against AC wiring faults, but they also act as antennas. Therefore, they are subject to induced radio frequency (RF) noise. This RF noise bypasses component power supplies and is typically coupled directly to the most sensitive audio/video circuitry in a system. AudioQuest's patented Ground Noise Dissipation (GND) greatly reduces this distortion, producing unprecedented levels of noise dissipation over the widest possible bandwidth (range) of radio frequencies. Our unique circuit topology uses a common mode phase cancellation matrix, along with proprietary dielectric materials that provide additional differential linear filtering. (US Patent No. 9,373,439)

UNCOMPRESSED HIGH CURRENT TRANSFER

While many AC power cables feature low DC resistance to accommodate high current demand, a cable's characteristic impedance is also crucial for optimal performance. Unlike most AC cables that constrict or compress an audio-driven transient, AudioQuest AC cables combine low DC resistance and ZERO characteristic impedance to deliver uncompressed, high-current transients on demand. .

DIELECTRIC POLARIZATION SYSTEM WITH RADIO FREQUENCY TRAP

Any insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties will affect signal integrity. When the dielectric is unbiased, the dielectric's involvement (nonlinear energy absorption and release) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for multi-octave audio. very sensitive to time. The inclusion of an RF trap (developed for AudioQuest's Niagara series of power products) ensures that no RF noise is induced into the signal conductors of the DBS field elements. (DBS, US Patent Nos. 7,126,055 and 7,872,195 B1)

DIRECTIONALITY

All drawn metal wires or conductors have a non-symmetric and therefore directional grain structure. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so noise is drained away from where it will cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to each batch of metallic conductors used in each AudioQuest audio cable. Where applicable, arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For most AudioQuest cable models, the arrows not only indicate the direction that optimizes metal directionality as part of noise dissipation, but also indicate the non-symmetric connection of shield and GND to optimize overall system performance. .
