DAC1 Reference Non Oversampling DAC with valve output. A DAC that sounds like vinyl

LAB12 is a company firmly dedicated to analog sound, but today digital signals are present in every modern audio system. In recent years many users of digital formats are discovering the unique sound of "non-oversampling" DACs to get the best out of their sources in this format.

The biggest challenge for any Digital to Analog Converter is the sound, not the "numbers." By default, digital sounds very different compared to analog formats. At Lab12 they have spent countless hours striving to achieve the sound that resembles the best qualities of analog. They couldn't be more proud of their newest creation: the Dac1 Reference .

In this new DAC, based on the philosophy of the widely recognized Lab12 Dac1 Special Edition, all phases have been pushed further to the limit: power supply, digital inputs and receivers, jitter reduction, etc. to get as close to the original analog sound as possible.

Dac1 Reference uses eight Philips multibit DACs in a complex parallel configuration directly after an efficient digital receive phase, supported by two Russian dual triode NOS valves in the output stage. Each and every one of the components has been selected for their sonic characteristics that provide identifiable and consistent benefits to the final sound. The result is an exciting and transparent sonic performance, one of a kind.
