REGA Elex MK4

Housed in an all-new enclosure to match the rest of the Rega range, the MK4 builds on previous Rega designs and utilises our multi-award winning Class A/B power amplifier circuitry, which delivers an impressive 72W per channel into 8Ω loads (90W into 6Ω). The Elex MK4's new rear connectivity options now include a Rega DAC circuit with two digital inputs and a high-quality headphone output conveniently located on the front panel.

The Elex MK4 is capable of driving difficult speakers with ease and will integrate seamlessly into any audio system by offering a wider range of connectivity options. In addition to line level, digital inputs and a high quality moving magnet phono stage, you will also find Pre-out and Record Out functions along with a headphone output. Special attention has been paid to the selection of the main audio components. Discrete circuitry, high quality relays, polypropylene capacitors and Sanken output transistors are used throughout the design.

AMPLIFIER CIRCUITRY

Our engineers have redesigned the entire ELEX circuit board to optimise performance. The MK4 builds on previous Rega designs and uses our multi-award winning Class A/B power amplifier circuitry to deliver a powerful 72 W per channel into 8 Ω loads. This power is supplied by a quiet multi-stage linear supply, while the power rails of the digital and analogue sections are galvanically isolated.

DIGITAL CIRCUITRY / DAC

The DAC is closely based on the successful Rega DAC-R circuit. The galvanically/optically isolated digital inputs use a Wolfson S/PDIF receiver IC to provide exceptional detail and clarity from any connected source. The output is provided by a Wolfson DAC and a discrete line driver circuit designed by Rega. Our engineers have worked very hard to ensure that the analogue part of the circuit is not affected in any way by the introduction of digital inputs.

MOBILE LOUDSPEAKER STAGE

A high-performance Rega-designed integrated moving-magnet (MM) phono stage has been carefully incorporated into the circuit. The RIAA equalisation has been split into two stages to minimise interaction. Polyester capacitors have been used in the signal path and polypropylene capacitors in the RIAA equalisation circuits.

HEADPHONE OUTPUT

Great care has been taken when incorporating the headphone socket into the Elex MK4. It has been configured so that speaker switching is via the output mute relay to avoid obstruction of the signal path, ensuring no loss of performance when not in use.

CUSTOM ENCLOSURE.

The new custom case design and construction brings the Elex MK4 in line with the rest of the Rega range and provides improved heat dissipation by using the entire case as an ultra-efficient heat sink.

PROTECTION.

The Elex MK4 includes thermal cut-out, short circuit protection and DC protection to avoid the risk of damage from excess heat, excessive currents or short circuits.
