Replacing the legendary AW 600 NEMO, the AW 800 M incorporates a number of changes and improvements designed to preserve the unmistakable sonic personality of Electrocompaniet's uncompromising music reproduction system achievements. Thus, the AW 800 M encompasses the open-loop, wide-bandwidth, DC-coupled circuit topology, to which improvements have been added in the form of high slew rate amplifier stages and an extremely generous passband. In addition, a newly developed output stage has been incorporated which effectively shields the input stage and load attack stage, thus making the output power extremely robust and unaffected by load variations. In addition, this significantly simplifies the workload of the refined feedback system employed and drastically reduces distortion. Another unique attribute of Electrocompaniet's new reference power amplifier is its ability to switch between mono, stereo and bi-amplified modes of operation so that the user can either upgrade or change the configuration of their equipment while preserving their initial investment. The AW 800 M is completed by a switchable auto on/off system, dimmable illumination and a practical trigger input/output.
