The K-300p is a high-performance phono preamplifier for moving coil (MC) and moving magnet (MM) capsules, equipped with separate input sections for each for perfect matching. With the ability to adjust the resistive load from 47 kOhm to 10 ohms and up to 62dB of gain (at 1 kHz), the MC input can accommodate a wide variety of capsules, including low output models. As for the MM input, it is based on a circuit with two low-noise FET transistors providing a highly stable 47 kOhm input impedance, plus capacitive load adjustment from 0 to 680 pF and gain up to 36 dB. The output signal from the MC or MM section is sent to a passive RIAA equalisation circuitry executed with precision resistors and polypropylene film capacitors, resulting in an extremely accurate frequency response curve with only +/-0.2 dB deviation from the ideal. Finally, the audio signal is routed to a balanced output stage that uses Krell's reputed Current Mode topology (as it works with currents instead of voltages) in order to maximise the naturalness and transparency of the sound.
