By definition, when tracking a record with a pivoted tone arm, the cantilever is aligned perfectly perpendicular to the groove in only two instances. The larger the tone arm, the smaller the offset error between these two instances, resulting in less distortion. This explains why LPs tracked with the 12.1-inch long tone sound just a little more balanced, relaxed and natural (although no rose is without thorns: there are not many turntables that can accommodate the "12.1" - among them our "LaGrange" and "Balance"). By the way: the "12.1" is not just a "10.5" with a longer armtube. Since a longer armtube offers less torsional stability and is more prone to resonances, we had to implement quite a few structural changes. We are proud of the fact that you probably won't notice it at first glance, and even prouder that the "12.1" sounds even better than the "10.5".

The "12.1" has an infinitely variable azimuth adjustment. A small clamping screw underneath the arm tube holds the housing in position. The housing can be rotated by ± 5° after undoing the screw. A precision plastic part mounted in place of the cartridge allows the housing to be aligned parallel to the recording plate or surface. This plastic part has the same height as our EMT-ti cartridge and also allows the height of the arm to be aligned. If a cartridge has any deviation in azimuth, adjustment can be made by turning the connector in the desired direction to adjust the cartridge stylus vertically to the recording surface.
