Musical Fidelity M8x Vinyl: A High-End Phono Preamplifier Redefined
The M8x Vinyl marks a significant evolution over its predecessor, the M6x Vinyl, with refined electronics that enhance nearly every aspect of its performance. Like the M6x, it is built entirely with discrete components, but it now boasts a fully balanced architecture. This design provides each channel's positive and negative halves with their own amplification stage, increasing the component count and overall complexity of the system.
Enhanced Gain Section
The gain section has been optimized with three amplification stages that deliver higher gain levels while reducing noise and distortion. Additionally, advanced circuitry has been incorporated to filter network signals and block unwanted DC currents. In the phono stage, the power supply PCB is three times larger than before, ensuring exceptionally clean power delivery to the circuits handling delicate audio signals.
“Super Silent” Transformer and EMI Shielding
A key feature of the M8x Vinyl is Musical Fidelity’s “Super Silent” transformer, which is encapsulated to protect the phono stage from external electromagnetic interference.
Expanded EQ Curves and Features
The M8x Vinyl includes new Decca and Columbia EQ curves alongside the traditional RIAA, offering a dual passive EQ stage, a two-stage subsonic filter, additional inputs, and more versatile loading adjustments. This ensures optimal compatibility with a wide range of phono cartridges.
