EAT is acclaimed for its high-end turntables that take physics to its theoretical maximum. With the considerate use of mass, the EAT has waged a war against unwanted vibration, resonance, and sound coloration. Now EAT offers for the first time a cover that is genuinely affordable yet capable of providing neutral sound.

To hit the price target, there have to be compromises, but the basic principles remain the same: only a heavyweight chainring can give you the right speed and precision. We use a low tolerance (0.01) polished stainless steel bearing in a soft bronze bushing, to ensure super quiet and smooth movement. This is the same base material as our high-end designs. A pre-installed Ortofon 2M Red cartridge is supplied with the turntable, as well as an acrylic cap for dust protection.

The elegant piano lacquer finish fits into any home or décor. We also offer the Prelude with EAT's iconic green motor and strap.

Our plinth is made of dense MDF, protected by eight coats of lacquer that produce a luxurious look and finish. This is the first time in a price category where a glued-on particle board chassis is the norm. For the motor, we avoid a bulk load design. Instead, we have a separate motor with no connection to the board; this is the only way to ensure that no vibrations are transmitted to the motor.

Most of our customers who shop in this price range will use an MM (Moving-Magnet) cartridge. To solve this problem, we chose a lightweight, ultra-stiff and resonance-free carbon tube, which is cast in one piece. We have deliberately avoided a heavier metal hull, as a lightweight design simply creates more ideal resonant frequencies with an MM cartridge.

Equally unusual at this price is the bearing support for the forearm and counterweight. The mass support acts as an energy sink for all resonances in the cartridge, as well as for the low frequencies of the cover. The counterweight implements an anti-resonator damper to reduce the amplitude of the natural resonance of the weapons / cartridge.

We have chosen one of the "best buy" cartridges available today, a perfect companion for Prelude. The discerning listener will recognize that the Prelude timbre elevates the 2M Red to a whole new level of performance.
