We've created a beautiful entry-level acrylic turntable for the Series X. This player shares features from its more expensive siblings while maintaining an extremely lightweight appearance. The technical parts seem to float on an almost invisible slab of acrylic. Top that off with the capabilities of True Balanced Connection and you've got a truly ethereal player!

Acrylic has always been part of Pro-Ject's history. The first acrylic turntable was the Pro-Ject 6.9 Perspective, which was a huge success. Furthermore, the 6PerspeX has been part of our product range for over 15 years and remains one of our best. The limited Perspective Final Edition was also a huge success and sold out in no time.
These turntables were examples where we combined the advantages of the special appearance and acoustic damping of acrylic.
A perfect combination
Using acrylic is not as easy as it seems. The high internal damping capacity is a good feature, but to obtain a perfect sound result, all parts of a turntable must work together. From measurements and listening tests we know that acrylic can dampen the turntable too much, resulting in a very dry sound character. The combination with the aluminum arm and platter and the combined Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge, together with the special feet, makes the XA B lively and convinces with a dynamic and detailed sound signature.
The development of an acrylic turntable is more complex, but we accept the challenge once again. The result is a turntable that sounds and looks great, but is still affordable.
What is true balance?
The "B" in XA B stands for balanced. Balanced audio connections are standard among professional musicians, recording studios and live concerts. It is essential to have a stable connection free of interference such as these signals. The significant advantage of a balanced connection is its ability to eliminate noise and picked up interference.
The XA B comes with our balanced MM cartridge, the Pick it Pro Balanced, and a balanced DIN 5P phono output.
Cartridges are balanced signal transducers by nature! Due to the internal wiring of typical MM cartridges, until now you needed to upgrade your turntable with an MC cartridge. But not with the new Pick it Pro Balanced! Our special Balanced Pick it PRO has been modified to access the entirety of that balanced signal.
Together with our separately available True Balanced Connection cables and truly balanced phono stages (e.g. Phono Box S3 B or DS3 B), you'll be able to access high-end features previously only available on more expensive turntable setups.
Premium tone arm.
The XA B turntable features a 10" premium aluminum tonearm with huge bearing construction. The ultra-low friction 4-point tonearm bearing ensures precise, stable and accurate tracking. We use 10" aluminum tonearm tube. a single piece instead of a carbon one, as the aluminum complements the sound characteristics of the acrylic.
The all-aluminum arm base gives you real audiophile features. Allows you to adjust both the azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA).
Setting up and experimenting with VTA and Azimuth is crucial to extracting every last bit of performance from your cartridge.

The new XA B rests on three height-adjustable cushioned feet to ensure perfect support. By using 3 feet we can increase stability on uneven surfaces, because a perfectly level turntable is essential for real high-end sound.

The XA B is ready for our new True Balanced Connection. Single-ended RCA connections literally only use half of your cartridge's output. With one of our new True Balanced phono cables connected to a Phono Box S3 B, Phono Box DS3 B, Phono Box RS or RS2 you can listen to your MC cartridge in its entirety!
