Building on the huge success of the Automat A1, the Automat A2 is a state-of-the-art fully automatic mechanical turntable, designed to combine the traditional sound quality of Pro-Ject's vinyl players with the convenience of automated operation. Many technical innovations are incorporated into this versatile new analogue audio source, starting with the ability to select the needle drop point for 45 rpm singles and LP's and the addition of 78 rpm spin speed. To activate the Automat A2, simply press "start" and the read arm will automatically move to the initial groove of the record, at which point the automatisms disappear completely and therefore (in line with Pro-Ject's purist philosophy) their possible influence on the sound quality is virtually nil. In terms of basic engineering, this is a high-performance turntable that combines an MDF main chassis and subframe, an improved gimbal bearing system, an ultra-lightweight 8'3" aluminium arm and an imaginative new massless support force adjustment.
