The RCA connector WBT-0114 belongs to the nextgen™ series, which represents the new generation of RCA type connectors from WBT. The WBT-0114 offers an optimal combination of a robust and stable plug body and a delicate signal conductor with a reduced ground located at the front of the plug.

The central contact unit is characterised by its minimalist design in terms of the applied metallic mass (mass storage effect*), but all signal conductors are made of pure (soft) copper or fine silver. This hybrid construction allows a high mechanical stability to be achieved. The signal transfer is highly dynamic and precise. The bandwidth is linear up to ≥ 400 MHz with a characteristic impedance of 75 Ω, making the connector fully digital.

The EMI shielding protects against interfering electromagnetic fields. The clamping sleeve allows perfect shielding against these fields, making it ideal for low-level analogue outputs, such as those of record players (moving coil or moving magnet), microphones, etc., where unwanted interference can be significant depending on the environment (mobile phones, computers, etc.).

WBT has patented a clamping device to ensure a solid fit of the plug in the socket, which is necessary for a good contact, as well as a constant high pressure. This mechanism allows WBT RCA plugs to fit perfectly into any type of RCA plug. By rotating the outer sleeve in the direction of the cable, the cone of the sleeve will press firmly on the three outer contact elements, providing the necessary contact pressure and securing the plug firmly to the connector. Therefore, the transition resistance is minimal and stable.

The strain relief of the cable is provided by a Torx1 screw, which together with the special WBT self-tightening fine thread, effectively maintains the pressure once tightened.

WBT-0800 silver solder (4% Ag) is recommended for use with these connectors. When connecting or disconnecting the plug, it is important to ensure that the collector mandrel is not activated, and to release the mechanism, rotate the sleeve forward.
