Just as in full-size tube amplifiers, the quality of the output transformers is crucial to performance. For this reason, Icon Audio has developed hand-wound custom transformers, specifically optimized for this amplifier.

The HP 205D utilizes a directly heated triode (DHT) design, requiring a stable, high-quality power supply to maximize performance.
To achieve this, the amplifier features an external power supply, equipped with:
