The Aelius II is a hybrid push-pull monoblock amplifier designed to deliver a flawless blend of power, musicality, and transparency. Utilizing only two gain stages and completely free of global feedback, it ensures sonic reproduction that is free from added distortion, offering exceptional musical engagement—even when driving demanding loudspeakers under real-world conditions.
The first gain stage is implemented using a vacuum tube operating in Class A single-ended mode, transformer-coupled to the output stage. This design eliminates the need for an additional gain stage, preserving the signal path’s purity and transparency.
To achieve this, a wideband transformer (10 Hz – 75 kHz) was custom-developed, finely tuned through extensive listening tests and measurements. The transformer’s frequency response defines that of the entire amplifier, ensuring precise and natural tonal delivery.
The Aelius II features a newly developed input transformer that not only enhances the purity of the signal path but also enables balanced input connectivity. This adds flexibility by allowing the use of long interconnect cables without any degradation in audio quality.
The output stage employs N-channel components only, operating in a symmetrical topology. This allows both the positive and negative terminals to carry opposite-phase signals, enhancing speaker control and power delivery.
