All equipment is very susceptible to direct current in the mains. Even power supply components with very small transformers are adversely affected by DC current. It goes without saying that large mains transformers suffer the most. These are found in most integrated and power amplifiers. Switch-mode power supplies also suffer when DC current is present.

Even small amounts of DC current seriously reduce the efficiency of an equipment's power supply. This reduces the dynamics, quietness and information in a system. Most transformers will produce hum when DC current is present. Even if you cannot hear any hum coming from a piece of equipment, this is no guarantee that DC current is not present in your power supply.

Eliminating DC power efficiently from your system is probably one of the biggest quality improvements you can make. All components in your system will take a huge step forward in quality. The difference when Grenade is in your system is not a subtlety!

The Granada is not only a DC filter, but also incorporates a highly advanced power dissipation and control system. The chassis of the Granada is machined from solid pieces of Krion, a solid surface with excellent properties. This material has proven to be far superior to a solid aluminium chassis or any other metal case. The Granada uses individual damping for each component. This allows us to dampen and control energy and avoid cross-contamination with other components in the system. The Granada uses the latest high-tech elastomers to dissipate residual mechanical energy caused by the mains power itself and vibration received through the air and power cables supplying the equipment. All of this energy control helps to create the silence that is paramount for a system to operate at maximum efficiency.

All components within the Granada are selected by ear for optimum quality. Precision laboratory equipment is far from adequate for component selection. Each Granada is measured after its initial break-in period to confirm that it meets our specifications and then we listen to it on our reference system before sending it to the customer.

Recommendations

The Grenade can be connected to the mains permanently. However, we recommend that you completely shut down and disconnect your system every 10 to 14 days. This includes the Granada, which should be unplugged from the wall socket and left for an hour or so before reconnecting to the mains. This process ensures that your system dissipates the wasted energy that accumulates inside each component.

Run-in time

The Grenade is run-in for a period of 96 hours at the factory prior to shipment. Maximum quality will be achieved after approximately 500 hours of use.
