COPLAND CSA 150. High-end integrated tube amplifier.
This is a stylish stereo integrated amplifier with the unmistakable aesthetics of the veteran Danish firm Copland that seeks to bring together the advantages of transistor and tube amplification through the highly innovative approach that characterises it. Specifically, the CSA100 combines a double triode-based preamp circuitry with a transistorised output stage with current feedback that allows it to deliver 100 watts continuous per channel into 8 ohms or 180 watts continuous per channel into 4 ohms. The dual triode operates at a high bias voltage to maximise linearity and is responsible for voltage amplification only. A circuitry equipped with MOSFET transistors provides the raw power needed to drive the output of the line stage and the feedback circuitry, while ensuring tight control between the voltage-governed world of the tubes and the current-governed world of the transistors. The CSA100 also includes a phono input for moving magnet (MM) capsules, as well as a dedicated headphone amplifier and DAC functionality based on one of ESS Technology's renowned ES9018 SABRE Reference 32-bit D/A conversion chips from the USA.
